Joint Venture Leadership Development Program

In an effort to make certain the City of Cape Coral has an active pool of leaders to help move the community forward the Chamber of Commerce of Cape Coral, the Council for Progress Foundation, and the Coalition for Better Government agree to join forces in the following program. The three organizations will work collectively to ensure the success of the program.

The Chamber through its Leadership Cape Coral program will lead the base of the program. This program will be the entry level training ground for all community leaders. It will provide common access, information and understanding of the issues that are facing our community. This initial leadership program will be augmented through the development of a new Advanced Leadership program available to alumni of Leadership Cape Coral and Leadership Lee County.

This training will allow for the development of the next level of leaders, Community Trustees. This program will be developed and operated by the Council for Progress. These leaders will be involved in the community as a whole and be prepared to serve with their time and talents on many community boards. They will play an active role in helping to develop and drive a united vision for the Cape.

The last level of leadership will be that of government service as elected officials. This program will be facilitated by the Coalition for Better Government. The Coalition will identify the best of the Community Trustees, find those who are interested in serving as elected officials, and help train them in the area of public policy, campaigning, and the duties of an elected official in local government.

The three organizations agree that this program needs to be a joint effort to be successful. It also needs to be non-partisan and open to all the citizens of Cape Coral. This effort will assure that the Cape will have an active, informed, empowered group of people that will provide leadership at all levels necessary to make this community reach its full potential as the leader of Southwest Florida.
